It's almost 10 years old, but I'm still very proud of this record I made with a bunch of fine friends. I've made lots of music over the years, & proud of it all, but this was a real collaborative project that was a good reflection of everyone in the band

Hey @erinbiba.bsky.social what’s better than cats playing theremin? Kittens laying theremin, obviously.

Amazon's own balance sheet presents the most compelling evidence that we are stuck in the Enshittocene, the era in which everything is turning into a pile of shit, because the worst ideas of the worst people now make the most money.

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this.

Google's AI now scans your emails and attachments, bank statements, tax files, medical letters, all of it. It turned on by default, and there's a class-action lawsuit over how.

Here are 5 moves to shut it off, the switch is hidden in two places:

Never let them forget: They hunted the vice president to kill him. They built a gallows on the Capitol lawn. They assaulted police officers with flagpoles and bear spray, and they tried to seize the presidency for Donald Trump.

At a CCSD School Board mtg, our member Amanda Nuchols, a woman who is an amazing leader & activist, stood up for trans rights. One School Board member, Lorena Biassotti, wore an anti-trans shirt. Lorena is a coward and hater. This is what courage looks like. This is what activism looks like.

Even seeing the picture is clearly Nyhavn it took a few paragraphs into the story to understand why Copenhagen is the "Vegas of Europe", something I've never heard it called. But spoiler, it's not about gambling 🤷‍♂️

Would be nice for this to be more of a story, AI slop farms camping on existing artist names
Today on my Spotify new release playlist I saw songs by The Plimsouls and Guadalcanal Diary. Turns out they are clearly AI generated slop using existing band names. Might be on other services as well.

If anyone knows Peter and/or Murray, let them know. I wrote to Peter's management.

So if @nedraggett.bsky.social @drownedinsound.bsky.social & other music journalists want a story to chase, AI slop farms camping out on older band names seems to be a thing? Or maybe it's been written about & I didn't notice?

I love this essay, not only because it affirms some of what I thought were the film's themes (allegory for the current moment in America, shattering of norms) but points out other ways the Nolan is using art as social commentary that I didn't pick up on, but make sense in context.
This piece by Jeff Yang (aka @originalsp.in) was so satisfying to edit. It covers different aspects of The Odyssey and contextualizes them as examples of political filmmaking through allegory—the tale of a 21st century empire reeling from karmic blowback. www.rogerebert.com/features/the...

Every single fucking time the question “how did this get worse,” the answer is motherfucking private equity.”
Well, this article is incredibly depressing for cooking enthusiasts. The short version: private equity has, over the last couple of decades, quietly bought up most of the classic brands you’ve heard of and then traded on their names while drastically cutting quality and closing American factories
