My "RAIDER MAYER WON'T GET PUSHED AROUND" for kids about ages 8-13.

It's about an American kid who is big, and who is a fan of sumo. His classmate has made billions on the stock market. She asks him to be her bodyguard. Yes!

Written esp. for kids who have a hard time reading.
Set at low price.
Fukushima yesterday

Japan with a book.

1. I don't agree.

When I first heard about small reactors, I thought they were meant for a particular location. I didn't realize that it would be the nuclear equivalent of wind turbine farms or solar panels.

Something to keep in mind is that the reactors are not small.
They are "less big."
456 small reactors on one site, with fuel fabrication next door, is the factory model taken seriously: the same unit built hundreds of times. Putting generation right beside the load also keeps new transmission to a minimum

Fukushima today

I was riding my bicycle in northwest Fukushima City, took this photo.

Before I go, reposting.

But you know? Utah can do what Utah wants to do.

But is this what Utah wants to do??????
Or is this what an ambitious California company wants to do---build a whole lot of nuclear reactors to increase data centers for AI, making lots of money? That's what is happening.

1. I am reading these.

The first one says that Valar (the company) talking publicly, to the community.

Also that some ("much") of the staff lives in the area.

For me, personally, I don't care what happens in Utah. IMO, Utah people can do whatever they want.

My own personal feelings: (cont.)
Got a little late in the day yesterday but for the sake of completeness, here are Valar and BLM's full statements to NPR about this story.

I spend so much time researching nuclear stuff, I have so many thoughts.
I have to remind myself to get back to my own writing.

Helium? I've heard of graphite, of water, but helium is new to me.

I need to work on my sequel to "March in the Island of Happiness." (set in Fukushima March 2011)
2. A post on Medium. I have no idea who the author is, but for me it is a starting place:

Helium-cooled.

Interesting.
GWe. Thermal is more like 30ish! But keep in mind these are HTGRs (helium cooled) so they can operate at much higher temps than BWR/PWRs. The plan is to try and use some of that heat for industrial apps.

Interesting article.

I posted questions to Mr. Brumfiel over at Xixxex. I didn't realize he was also at BlueSky.

I will copy/paste my same questions to him on this site, too. Even if he doesn't anwer, I still want my thoughts out, as a Fukushimer. We are important.
Construction near Price, Utah could begin as early as the end of this year, with the first reactors coming online in 2028. The full site could be completed by 2032, according to one document reviewed by NPR.

1. Reading a non-fiction book about the sea. Worst deaths from hurricane (cyclone, typhoon) was in 1970. 300,00 killed in 1970.
Third worst, again Bangladesh. 1991, 138,866 killed.
Fourth worst, Myanmar/Burma. 2008, 138,373 killed.

I wonder why kidlit ignores these terrible, terrible disasters.

I went to a Super Car Festival here in Fukushima City. The info in Japanese said that there would be "Lamborghinis and Aston Martins......" Those are the two sports cars in my MG book RAIDER MAYER WON'T GET PUSHED AROUND. !!!!!!

"pushed around" refers to sumo

I went to Flickr to set up an account there. But then saw it is free up to 1,000 photos. And if you go over that w/o paying your whole account is deleted.

So I went to counter.social and set up an account there. I made my first (test) post. So we'll see what happens.

So I might try Flickr for my photos of books I love. I don't have time right now to check out Flickr, I want to work on my manuscript.

There's so give-and-take here at BlueSky. I know Flickr won't be better but at least it is a photo site.

1. I just logged into BlueSky and all (except one) of the posts that are in the feed are in German. (I previously set me languages to English and Japanese.)

German??! lol

BlueSky is not good at showing people what they want to read. I can't even read German. I'm not interested in German politics.

1. I wonder if I should keep posting my book photos here, or if I should move over to another site.

It seems like very few people here care.

Any thoughts?

I know that sounds passive-aggressive, but I promise that it's not.
It's hard to take the photos. To buy the books, read them I love.

Fukushima countryside

I have to pay attention for bears. (Seriously.) I never go into non-populated areas.

Bears are much faster than humans, so I speak out loud, sing, as I walk.

Fukushima bus stop

If you have ever wondered how I travel to take these photos:
1. bicycle
2.train
3. bus

This time, by bus.
I returned to the bus stop (I know the schedule, buses are reliable.)
This is back of my bench.

It says 福島牛乳 Fukushima Milk.
By the way, bench probably predates quake.

stockfttp sent me two links regarding electricity:

app.electricitymaps.com/map/zone/JP/...
You can click on country.

And this one ember-energy.org/data/electri... This site says "Ember is an energy think tank that aims to accelerate the clean energy transition with data and policy."

1. I said I was hungry for info, "How much electricity do the turbines and solar panels produce?"

I was told it's simple, just google it. I couldn't find anything from Japan's govt. about how much electricity is produced by the solar farms.

I did find a govt. essay about my home, "Fukushima."

I am so hungry for information about wind energy and solar energy. There's so little out there. My main questions are things like, How much electricity do the turbines and solar panels produce?

The Japan-U.K. compact shows Japanese companies still have an appetite for offshore wind, but local communities must not be left behind.
