The FBI wants to hire the Ultimate Fighting Championship to train its special agents under a one-year deal that would bypass the competitive bidding process typically used for federal contracts, according to federal records.
FBI Is Angling to Hand the UFC a No-Bid Contract to Train Agents
The contract would expand an existing partnership between the Trump administration and the UFC.

Depressing to say, but three years on I remain profoundly grateful for everyone who has been outspoken in their conviction that killing innocent people is equally wrong regardless of who they are.

The American Dream is amazing: within just a few years you can go from being the child of Cuban immigrants to the great-grandson of Spanish settlers.
Funny how Marco Rubio tries to differentiate himself from all the other children of recent immigrants who are now getting removed from the country by the master he now serves.

Rubio, you see, is a descendent of *the West*

Modern democracy was invented in large part because kings couldn't be counted on not to pull the exact same shit Trump is doing right now.
In a political system where companies can be gouged for unlimited cash, inconsistent application of the law is a powerful financial opportunity.
At some point some of these companies might realize they are better off under a predictable and impartial legal system rather than a personalist one.
Trump admin is suspending a bunch of tech companies (Microsoft, Adobe, Cognizant, Infosys, Tata, Wipro, HCL, Capgemini) from participation in the H-1B PERM program, alleging fraud.
Some other tech firms (Apple, Amazon, Google, etc.) notably absent from the list.

Pro-Palestinian protesters gather outside City Hall to call out Mayor Zohran Mamdani for what they see as his betrayal of the movement.

and that's why I actually think that abolish ICE is probably the best possible move.

you just have to stand up a new agency first by statute with no preference given in hiring to existing DHS employees.

and then fire everybody in ICE
I’m pretty worried about ICE/CBP going blue-flu to ratfuck the next Dem administration tbh. I don’t really think there’s a good counter to them doing malicious compliance and stopping even normal enforcement, then going “sorry, we had to let that child predator go, due to woke” to sympathetic media
We are at the peak of ICE's ability to organize support for its activities before Democrats start taking more power & disrupting their efforts. And even when we do places like Florida will double down on state support to help facilitate whatever Congress tries to prevent.

When seeing polls, ask "does this spark joy?" If it does, allow yourself a giggle. If it does not, throw it away. Either way, do not rely on it.
a weird piece of advice I got from campaigning back in the day, and it’s stuck with me thru decades of social media— poll watching is anxious behavior, fretful fan stuff.

oooooh, I *like* this
The Constitution allows it. South Korea has proven it works. If you want to make impeachment viable—and so much else is pointless if you don't—then it can be done by a simple majority adopting a simple rules change: vote on the verdict by secret ballot.
A Democratic Senate Should Adopt Secret Impeachment Ballots on a Priority Basis
Such a change, requiring no constitutional amendment, would free senators to vote their judgment instead of their fears
