my Motherhood Mental Stability Index is directly tied to:
1. the quality of my lunch
2. when I eat it
3. whether I have to eat standing up

never more apparent that my daughter is the boss of me than today when she said "I hurt the toes" and "clean up mess" and then led me to her duplos and mutely instructed me to clean them up.

The second you leave this country for even a few days, you realize the place you call home is decaying at an almost exponential pace. The realization that you don't have to live like this is stark, and that nobody in power is taking tangible actions to fix it in your lifetime is even starker.

This morning's music is Beethoven's 9th symphony.

One birthday, I walked into the living room to find a 12 foot tall air dancer waving along and my husband saying "this is Dan, I invited him to our wedding." Several months later, this+Dan were our recessional.

My whole life, advocating war has been fed to me as “the adult position,” akin to drinking your coffee black or reading the business section of the newspaper. Let’s be very clear — war is the childish nonsense of impulsive destructive idiots playing baby-brained video games with real human lives.

To me, the Democratic party as an institution projects weakness. The vast majority of Americans have had enough of Trump, but they expect a clear vision of what the alternative will look like. They also expect moral clarity and a readiness to fight for our democracy. They're not getting that.

Frankly women aren’t ruining enough things. Let’s ruin sports betting. Let’s ruin underwear companies that don’t account for people having butts. Let’s ruin trucks so big their fronts are taller than our heads. Let’s ruin the prison industrial complex. I believe in us!
