I have a horrible feeling that the very English thing was that she wandered into the middle of a surveillance operation/trap that was about to be sprung while the culprits were in the act, cue lots of swearing from people who lurk in shadows.
I don’t understand this “very British/very English” framing. According to the Today programme it was “very English” that a member of the public called the police on seeing something dodgy. I’d no idea this is a specifically English thing. Perhaps we can encourage other countries to adopt this idea?

It's easy to forget that Tony Blair had been in power since 1694 when the Bank of England was founded. Good job Brain of Britain Liz Truss is here to remind us.

The difference between the performance of immigrants in England and Western Europe is staggering. (20 pts equals a year of learning.)

I looked at this in detail in the post - it can't be explained away by language or relative advantage of different immigrant communities. There is a policy factor.

"There is modern slavery happening right now."
Migrant care workers are told to stay silent, accept poor treatment and endure exploitation because they are tied to a single employer.

It's a system that traps workers with abusive employers.

We need a better way. #FairVisasNow

Again, stop conceding the talking points of the right. The description 'unvetted' comes up in right wing Facebook posts constantly. This really isn't about security checks. Have we 'vetted' masked men intimidating RNLI volunteers?
The furthest Davey will go is: "Of course, not every single person who comes over is the threat. The vast majority will not be. But one of the concerns about the current system is there are no security checks that are able to be made."

Reform's ground troops making Britain much less safe. If one person drowns off the coast because the RNLI weren't able to launch from Portsmouth lifeboat station, their death is blood on the hands of these nasty racist thugs who value human life as cheap, if they value it at all.

Just look at the glee on Nigel Farage’s face as he watches a Piddington resident cry about the overt racism she, her Caribbean heritage husband, and their two children have felt in the village during the referendum.

Time and again he’s showing us exactly who he is.

The Court of Directors of the Bank of England has a fascinating history and its external members are appointed on advice of the Chancellor.

It's not a court, that's just a fancy name, it’s essentially the board that oversees the Bank’s operations. (1/5)

RNLI volunteers put themselves in harm’s way to save lives. They should never face abuse or threats for doing so.

That includes the crews based on the Thames, who respond to hundreds of incidents every year.

They deserve to be thanked, not attacked.
