Familiar faces and new faces alike! I’m Angel, I am a Twister generation weather nut who somewhere along the way turned into an archivist/collector of tornado media from the days of tape/film, and appreciator of cold core and spouts/hybrids. Sometimes I take my own pics/vids as well. Also a cat dad.

I’m still alive, just settling into my new role at work and patiently awaiting the day computer storage prices return to prices I can afford 🥲

Well I told everyone in person that I could, I figure now that it is time I make the announcement official since I put it in writing: I have put in my two weeks notice at work, September 7 will be my final day after eight years here. I am transitioning into a pharmacy tech role elsewhere now!

Local weather weenie goes on local chase, sees and films tower/upward lightning for the first time in his life. I wish I could’ve set up my DSLR, but I only have one window clamp (the same one Mike Hollingshead used, fun fact) and there was a steady rain, so I had to commit to video.

Behind the scenes I am working on trying to get a specific tape format to work. Your only hint.

Question for the folks who have been chasing long before the days of that fancy Gripper windshield mount: what was your dash mounted camcorder solution then? Asking mostly because strict New England windshield obstruction laws may necessitate my having to get a little creative, and also for fun.

A question for the academics and especially anyone who was involved with VORTEX-2. I might be misremembering, but was there a paper mentioning the use of DSLR timelapse photography during 2010 operations and featuring the June 10 2010 Last Chance supercell as one of the cases?

The downside of my ADHD meds: dry mouth causing me to always be thirsty

The upside: I have never been more hydrated in my life

The parental unit wants some metal prints of some of the photos I’ve taken this year (it’s like the grown up version of having your drawing on the fridge), so I got some cheap 4x6 prints done to see what we want committed to metal. These are the ones we’ve settled on. :)

I dusted off my old Canon T1i since I wanna explore DSLR timelapses and it and the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 attached is perfectly acceptable for my needs. Last night's sunset was a good test to see if it still works after six years of no use.

This is probably tied for top chase of all time with 4/26/2024. And supremely local in areas I grew up in. Really hoping impacts were minimal.

I found this a million years ago on the UCAR website, but found it again for reasons, here's some films and video to film shot during CINDE in 1987, featuring early video of a July 2nd landspout that passed near where Stapleton used to be. n2t.org/ark:/85065/d...

OTD 24 years ago, June 8, 2002, Reed Timmer and I documented a striated LP supercell over rural ranchland near the community of Biddle, Montana. We followed this storm from Wyoming into Montana before a stout CAP killed the updraft. #MTwx #WYwx
