Happy first #kidlitartpostcard of 2025!
I'm Angeli, an illustrator & comic artist working on querying ✨something✨ this year, plus posting NEW illustrations & comics, so stay tuned!
Anyway, I'd love to run away to see the northern lights, hence this month's theme

So my friend @wendyxu.bsky.social has been suspended, no reason given, and thus can't promote her popular procreate brush for colored pencils on here. Maybe we can help her out.

"We don't want to turn into a banana republic, so we won't try to rein in corporations" is the kind of thing you say if you don't know what makes a banana republic a banana republic, and instead want to be a banana republic where the bananas are data centers.
Democrats working hard on precisely how much they should pull their punches against the corporate oligarchy after the election.

‘We don’t want to turn into a banana republic’: Dems preview rift on Trump corporate crackdown
Democrats are united by the idea of aggressive oversight of the administration but at odds over how far to go after corporate America.

X) A little Frieren doodley fanart and some quick snaps from the Frieren concert at Carnegie Hall this past Sunday! It's always a treat to hear your favorite OST performed by the experts, and I gotta shout out the musician on the tin flute for killing it during Zoltraak!

More than ever, it’s crucial to attend and support local independent comics and library-organized book festivals!!
Fan expos and mainstream Comic Cons really aren’t about comics (or even art) anymore: they’re mostly celebrity autograph meat-markets and major fandom gatherings.

Just read that Informa, the company that owns all the Fan Expo shows, just bought the company that owns Left Field Media (Rose City Comic Con, Awesome Con, Anime NYC, and Anime Frontier.)

they always show their asses eventually because the thing is that you cannot truly, sincerely care about women if you don’t care about trans women. the minute you carve off any one subcategory of women you claim are “lesser” in some way, you’ve declared women’s rights to be conditional by definition
It’s notable how many anti-trans activists who claim their actions are motivated by a desire to “protect women,” are currently attacking Jane Doe and defending the men who she says assaulted her. It’s almost like “protecting women” never had anything to do with it.

This was a sketchbook hack during my art school years:
-Buy a ream of printer paper
-Attach a bunch of sheets at a time to a clipboard
-Draw on that until you run out of paper
-Take only the drawings from the ream that you like or turned out decent, and get those bound together into a sketchbook

You know, I'm seeing a lot of blame?? placed on webcomic creators for using Tapas instead of their own hosting site, and I'm just saying like...can we not? Small artist v corporation, guess which one always wins
Anyway, let's work on options for READERS to build their own reading list, maybe

I think, when all is said and done, I made about a page rate of about $5/page for FULL TILT. But I didn't do it for the money and no one can take away the fact that I wrote and drew a 307 page OGN.

one thing you learn from making a lot of things is that the nitty gritty details, the millions of tiny invisible decisions, ARE the art. The "higher level ideas" are not nearly as important or interesting
"AI lets you focus on the higher level ideas!!"
because we all grew up dreaming of becoming managers and CEOs
we all know the real artists at the very highest level are the shareholders, famously full of amazing ideas

Wow. LOISH got accused of using Ai to make her art. I started following her on early deviantart. I remember first seeing her paintings in college. This is ridiculous, no one is safe. Artists Ive followed for actual decades are getting harassed because their work has been stolen and regurgitated.

It looks like Tapas not only made the official "we are shutting down" announcement today but they decided to kill the Ink Shop the same day so.... :') I had plans to go and buy some chapters that I ended up using the "free ink" to read but I guess I cannot now :\ This is stinky
