I thought Coyote vs. Acme was all right (kind of hit-and-miss), but it made me wish that The Day the Earth Blew Up received similar attention, especially since that was actual western frame-by-frame 2D animation (and I thought maybe a little better overall).

The #annieawards went as expected.

Outside of a few good presenters and speeches, there was pretty much no point to this ceremony, which based on these past two years seems to unfortunately be the direction the Annies as a whole is taking.

At least Annecy still seems legit.

Something frustrating about last year's #annieawards was seeing the same few productions be given practically every award, seemingly without consideration given to the specific categories.

I expect this year to be even worse in that regard (at least for films).

Fun fact: Not counting co-productions, this is the first year in Oscars history in which a single country outside the U.S. (France) received more than one nomination for best animated feature.
