Three years ago tonight, I was in the presence of the most remarkable supercell thunderstorm that I have ever had the privilege of witnessing. For over an hour, I watched it dance beneath the starts, spinning like a top. Mother nature will never cease to amaze, inspire, and humble me.

In the past few weeks, I got to observe a few people on the verge of addiction to AI: spending tokens on agents and anxiously wait for the answer as if they were slot machines — and never knowing when to stop. Scary slop machines

Killing the moon
THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU SLAM A ROCKET INTO THE MOON

New images just dropped from NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, showing the crater formed by a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage when it hit the Moon on 5 August 2026.

The new crater is 18 m across and 3 m deep.

Very happy to see a politician bringing this topic to the forefront. My wife got her eggs frozen in the middle of a pandemic, and this was easily the best decision of our life.

I’m thinking more and more often about this piece from @newyorker.com Jia Tolentino on body fat and Ozempic, and I wonder if there will be something similar with maths and AI — stop an obsession with geniuses & realize that improvements don’t last lest sustained

Republican elected officials, particularly Rand Paul and Ron Johnson, are a disgrace.

Aside from their repeated attacks on Dr. Fauci, I ask you this:

Who in their right mind will ever try to lead an American pandemic response again if the consequence is being harassed for the rest of your life?
Senators vote to hold Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress for pleading the Fifth during tense hearing
Fauci declined to answer senators’ questions more than 100 times during last week’s hearing, angering Republican lawmakers who have targeted him for years.
