Throughout 1953-1954, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders were situated in what was then called British Guiana. Since 1966 it has been known as the independent nation of Guyana.

Our first Winter Lecture of the 2026-2027 series has just been confirmed and will take place in the Colours Room of the museum on Saturday 7th November 2026 at 10.30am.
Please note, there is no October lecture.

BBC Radio 2 in the Park starts today!
If you are visiting Stirling Castle on the 11th, 12th or the 13th of September, please consider leaving extra time to get here. There are a number of road closures in the immediate area around the castle and the Castleview Park and Ride will not be operating.

Pieces of uniform given to soldiers during their service often belonged to the regiment. When a soldier left the regiment for whatever reason, this would be reused, cleaned, mended and reissued multiple times. Several soldiers' stories can be intertwined in one object - such as this kilt.

Another busy weekend for the team, on Saturday we were in the traders tent at the Stirling Highland Games, and it was one of the busiest games we've attended!
Our workforce shared stories, tradition and the culture of the regiment, and the impact this has had on Stirling.

Next Wednesday (26th July) we will be holding our next session of summer crafts!

Join the team to make some crafts based on things you can find in the museum. This is aimed at little ones and the adults they bring along with them.

Due to a sudden road closure, the car park at Stirling Castle is only open to coaches and accessibility vehicles.
All other vehicles are being asked to use the park and ride at Castleview or find alternative parking in the city.

The team at The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum are pleased to announce that as of last week, they have been awarded 5 stars as part of the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA) quality assurance scheme.
This ASVA scheme replaces that of Visit Scotland.

The volunteers and student placements at the museum make the work and projects we do possible.
In January, we welcomed Eve to the museum from the University of Glasgow.

This Saturday is our annual Regimental Day from 10am-4pm.
From crafts, bagpipe recitals, lectures, and more - there really is something for everyone.
Stirling Armed Forces Day will also start from Stirling Castle and proceed into the city centre.

A huge congratulations and sincere thank you to Liz Gillespie on the successful launch of her book Battlefields, on Saturday.
Battlefields is a powerful collection of poetry exploring themes of remembrance, alongside support and wellbeing for those who have served in the Armed Forces.

Last week, Brigadier (Retd) Adam Griffiths was accompanied by members of 4 SCOTS and former Argyll Colour Sergeant (Mor 2IC) Shaun Dick, and Pipe Sergeant Alistair Park for the rededication and reburial of Corporal Gilbert Nay Hamilton.

It's only a month to go until our annual Regimental and Armed Forces Day.

Regimental Day within the castle, will have something for everyone. From re-enactments, crafts and handling sessions - there is still more to be announced. This event is included with Stirling Castle admission.

With Glasgow Museum's Barbie™ exhibition nearing, we had a look into our collection. And whilst we don't have any Barbie's, we do have a figurine that many may recognise.
Released in 1970, the Argyll and Sutherland Highlander's Action Man was popular across the UK and is a collectors piece today.

by Liz Gillespie on Saturday 23rd May, 12.30-2.30pm.
Books will be available to purchase on the day, and
there will be book readings and the opportunity to have
the book signed.

As part of Stirling's culture evening - The Carnival of the Wolf, there will be evening of storytelling about The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders on Friday 1st May.
This will be hosted by our supporters, King Street Aparthotel at 45 King Street and presented by Creative Veterans Scotland.
