Promise for spinal cord repair: human spinal cord organoids can mimic the effects of spinal cord injury, report researchers at Northwestern Uni. They tested a new therapy on the mini organs & saw reduced scar tissue and regowth of neurites - a type of neuron.

New in @science.org Muscle stem cells build resilience but lose regenerative power with age, according to UCLA researchers. In mice, stem cells in aged muscle accumulate the NDRG1 protein that slows their ability to repair tissue but helps the cells survive longer:
