On Friday, I seriously broke my website, so I spent my weekend troubleshooting and didn’t have a chance to post the unboxing video, but here it is! Special editions of Sanguine Scenario arrived!

After some unexpected adventures, the special editions of Sanguine Scenario are here! Should I make an unboxing video?

Last night, my dreams consisted of a tornado that was a large carrot girl, and cartoon zombies that were trying to find the right music to listen to in order to not die, and they were taking turns as a community.
And I have no idea what to make of it.

October is just around the corner, so here's another spooky 3D art. As always, it was "I'll just test things out" case, but the zombie's absent expression makes me feel like I can relate to him. Because brrraaains…

In case you're wondering how my writing is going, in the nearly done first draft of my new book, I still have [namehere] for an important organization, and [insertname] for a vital location. I guess I should be happy that at least all characters have their names by now...

It's been a day (and it's not over yet), so when a large spider decided to walk on the wall right behind my PC, it didn't even elicit any strong reaction. Just a loud, "SERIOUSLY?!" and then I went to get the spray. It had no chance. Not in the mood, spider, not in the mood.

guys please stop falling for this, this is not “rogue AI” it’s “environments with lax cybersecurity controls”
The latest update in the rogue A.I. saga: OpenAI agents that were supposed to be performing mundane data requests for things like health data, historic photos and wait times at theme parks resorted to hacking attempts when they couldn't access the data they wanted www.nytimes.com/2026/09/23/t...

In each incident, the technology appeared to be conducting mundane data collection and resorted to hacking techniques to get it, researchers said.

One of the things I’m infinitely grateful for is that in the morning, when the world starts rushing, I get to stand in the patio for ~15 minutes, watching the sky and clouds change as the sun rises.
And sometimes, it’s a true spectacle of shapes and colors.

If you're in the northern hemisphere, autumn is finally here (and right on cue, temperatures around here dropped from 90-100s F to 70s), and that means… Does it mean more reading? Do you read more in autumn? Do you have specific rituals? Apple cider? Pumpkin latte? Cozy reading nook?

My yesterday's self spelled "biscuit" wrong and didn't have a speck of doubt about it being right.
My today's self looked at it for 30 mins, seeing nothing wrong with it. Only then she got a hunch to check the dictionary and discovered the truth.
A peak author form, I tell you.

I married the right man.
He comes home, tired, and after a lot of overtime and traveling. He glances at me while we say hello. Just glances and immediately asks, "Are you okay?". Before I can even respond, he says, "You are not okay." and immediately gives me full attention.

I’ve always loved the phrase, “living well is the best revenge.” Despite how it sounds, it isn't about spite; it’s about breaking free from a toxic cycle. It means taking all the energy you would have spent fighting back, and using it to build a life of peace and joy instead.

Continuing with the spooky theme, it's time for vampires! I had fun making this image, and I wanted it to be a little campy, with an 80s movie poster feel.

A piece of wisdom: if you're about to go to bed, do NOT decide to move a 3.5GB of files on your external archive drive.
Signed,

When I wrote Domestication, I built a great deal of dread around Janie's isolation. In Catamorphosis, Jazz starts out alone, but when the shit hits the fan, she makes a phone call, and the girl gang assembles. I loved that.

I saw an author say, "We've made it do the '…ber' months!" and that somehow made my brain jump to, "What if the months were named after my series? So here I am, presenting you 4 new month names. They kind of fit, don't they? 😆
(Yes, I cheated using the standalone title too!)

What's especially crazy to me in this sentiment (which I also had pre bluesky) is how much every other artistic field lauds indies. Indie filmmaking? Good. Indie music? Good. Indie books? Suddenly people draw a line, even though all the reasons Indie is good everywhere else *still apply*.

The way indie music is seen as 'cool' and indie films are seen as 'embracing the craft without selling out' while indie books are seen as 'didn't get trad published' gives me feelings.

Really crunchy feelings.

The snobbery makes zero sense and instantly tells me someone isn't worth listening to.

Continuing with the spooky season art, I have a dark arts battle to share. It was interesting to work with stronger contrast and deeper shadows, and I'm happy how this image turned out.

Star Trek Day seems like a good day to share my favorite related meme. And say what you want about the JJ Abrams's trilogy, but it did have Karl Urban as Bones (and Simon Pegg as Scotty), and he was perfect.

For Memories of Sorcery and Sand:
"I tore through it (...) – because there was no way I could predict where the story would go next. Which is something Joanna is very good at doing."

My husband's and my music tastes partially overlap, but aren't a perfect match.
So at some point, he went through all his music, song by song, letting me decide "yay" or "nay." All the "yays" went into a playlist, and now whenever he wants to listen to his music, he just plays "my" playlist.
