Students develop many communication and problem-solving skills through their online experiences outside school. I think schools need to recognize that learning does not happen only in the classroom. These experiences could provide valuable starting points for academic instruction.

While it would be helpful for teachers to understand students' online interests, students may not always be comfortable sharing that information. There is a distinction between their personal online lives, & their academic lives, and teachers need to respect those boundaries.

There is a disconnect between students' comfort with social technology and their ability to use technology for academic learning. It will take time to bridge the two. Since the authors argue that literacy is deictic and constantly changing, will schools ever fully catch up?

One limitation of Mills's article is that although she identifies inequalities in digital literacy, she offers little practical guidance on how teachers and schools can address them. Remedying these inequalities may be beyond the control of individual teachers and administrators.

Teachers need training to effectively use and evaluate digital assignments. Without proper preparation, it may be difficult to determine whether students are developing content knowledge, critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through these activities.

Although Mills discusses the educational possibilities of digital media, I wonder whether all forms of digital technology provide meaningful learning experiences. Would using a platform like TikTok actually improve student understanding, or simply increase engagement?

Network reading involves navigating and evaluating information from multiple connected digital sources rather than relying on one text. Students must compare information, recognize bias, check credibility, and determine which sources are accurate and useful.

A strength of the Critical Literacy article is that it shows how technology does more than deliver information; it also shapes how information is created and presented. The authors encourage readers to question AI, algorithms, and the companies behind the technology we use.

Posthumanism recognizes that humans and technology are interconnected and influence how we think, learn, and communicate. It does not mean humans are becoming machines or being replaced by them, but that technology plays an active role in shaping our experiences.

One limitation is that the authors offer few practical suggestions for fitting new literacies into busy school schedules, grading systems, and state testing. They also overlook challenges such as unequal technology access, misinformation, and online safety.

Students already develop communication and problem-solving skills in online communities. Shouldn't schools build on these experiences by encouraging students to create, collaborate, and share knowledge rather than simply replacing worksheets with technology?

Knobel and Lankshear argue that digital literacy involves more than reading and writing. It combines new technology with a mindset of collaboration, sharing, and learning from others. I agree that there must be some oversite by the instructor to keep students on task.
