This is true even if you're not disabled or chronically ill. Running yourself into the ground helps no one. It is important to allow yourself to rest. Recharge. Reset. You must take care of yourself if you want to care for others, and you must take care of yourself to maintain your well-being.

Like everything, disability exists on a spectrum. Not everyone who is disabled needs a mobility aid. Not everyone who uses a mobility aid needs it all the time. Not everyone who looks healthy is healthy. Whatever you think disability looks like, it looks like so much more.

When did we stop teaching children to wait their turn? Or adults, for that matter.

"Looking sick" is not an accurate reflection of someone's health, especially when it comes to chronic illness. Never assume that because someone doesn't "look sick," they aren't hiding a world of pain.

"What do you call it when you're disabled but not disabled?" Well, nothing, because that's not how being disabled works. Check out this week's brand-new episode on your favorite podcast platform or by visiting badattitudespod.com. #disability

Disabled and chronically ill people don't WANT to constantly say no to or cancel plans. We often have no choice because we can't always predict how we'll be feeling from one day to the next. Don't stop inviting your disabled or chronically ill friends, because we live for the times we can say YES!

Mel Gibson engaged in some questionable behavior at FanExpo Canada, and the disability community is understandably annoyed. Check out this week's new episode on your favorite podcast platform or visit badattitudespod.com. #disability

Everyone should have access to the medical care they need. SHOULD. From lack of accessibility to lack of insurance to lack of medical professionals willing to take them seriously, many people are suffering without a diagnosis. Being able to access a diagnosis is a PRIVILEGE.

This is the photo Antonia Sinibaldi snapped of her birthday dessert at a restaurant in New Jersey over the summer. How would YOU react if you received a plate that said, "Happy [mobility aid] birthday!"?

If you've never experienced being referred to as your mobility aid, you've missed out on a foundational part of the disabled experience. But those mobility aids aren't operating themselves. They are used by PEOPLE who deserve respect. Visit badattitudespod.com. #disability

Disability does not make us incomplete, diminished, or damaged. It makes us DIFFERENT. And different is a Good Thing. Disabled lives are fulfilling and happy and full of joy. Disabled lives should not be judged by non-disabled standards.

It is unnecessary to draw attention to a disabled stranger in public to teach your child about disability. It is easier and far more respectful to talk to your child in a quiet moment about what they are witnessing. They are people, not a sideshow. #disability

A bad attitude is NOT a disability. For some of us, it's just a way of life. Which is worse? Your disability or your attitude? 😈

Hiding one's disability takes a lot of effort, and it all stems from internalized ableism.

Basically, don't be a dick. If someone tells you they're disabled, believe them. You gain nothing by treating them badly, and if they're lying (for an inexplicable reason), it will be revealed in the end.

The common belief seems to be that there has never been a disabled politician in a high position of power — ie, within a stone's throw of the White House. I'm here to correct that assumption.

Disability is not linear. It is up and down and all around. You can have a great day one day and be absolutely dragging the next. Someone having a good day doesn't mean they are faking the bad ones. It just means that every day is different.
