France passed a law requiring solar panels on every parking lot with more than 80 spaces.

Equals 10 nuclear reactors
Reduces heat island, shades cars

The US -- 800 million parking spaces. Most of them are uncovered asphalt sitting in direct sunlight.

Why aren't we doing this?

christ this infuriates me. ACA bridged the gap between my divorce (with loss of spousal benefits) and medicare eligibility. without it, I would not have had access to health care for eight years.

So gas is getting more expensive, and Trump is making cars less fuel-efficient. Brilliant strategy.
Trump announces he will sharply scale back fuel-efficiency rules for new cars and light trucks, gutting one of the government’s most significant efforts to reduce gasoline consumption and speed the country’s shift to electric vehicles.

He is so out of his depth it’s embarrassing. We have the worst possible president at the AI inflection moment. The opportunity cost of putting this guy back in office is vast.
Trump: "Super Intelligence - SI - I don't call it AI anymore. I call it SI because it's a much better name. It's a much more accurate name, because when you say the other, that means it's fake. 'Artificial' means it's fake & it's not fake. It's just very strong intelligence...it's much more elegant"

Read the full story in the Illinois Times. For Illinois to meet its ambitious decarbonization goals, the state’s energy grid will need more battery storage to make use of solar and wind power when the sun doesn’t shine and wind doesn’t blow. State regulators took the first major step last month toward bringing new energy storage online, a key component of legislation that took effect in June.
