i remember back when i was into reading spider-man comics, if an artist redrew something or referenced another artist they would credit them with an apology (re: all apologies to john romita etc.) so i often try and do that if i drop in on one of these.
thinking about the popularity of so many "redraw trends" and plagiarism of compositions by all sorts of artists (it comes up often for gposing but 2D artists do it too). i have to sum up my discomfort with it as follows: it's artists treating other artists the same way A/I treats art as data

More writers need to let their characters and stories be messy!!
I don't necessarily mean going out of your way to introduce drama for the sake of drama. But I do think a lot of writers see the opportunity for mess, but get scared, and try to neutralise it rather than digging into it
