The Beatles perform to an audience of 12,603 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Tickets for the show cost $5.90. It is the band’s only show in Pittsburgh.

11 September 1968:

The Beatles record the backing track of Glass Onion, for the White Album.

They tape 34 versions. Take 15 becomes a six-minute jam, and take 33 is considered the best and appears on the album.

The Beatles record the Magical Mystery Tour track Flying – which had the working title Aerial Tour Instrumental.

It is the first Beatles instrumental to be released, and the first track to be credited to all four Beatles.
