BIG BLACK is little known today but was essential to the history of hand drumming in jazz. I spoke about him with another hand drummer - Adam Rudolph.

Big Black :: Two Moonlins And Mother

Before Pharoah Sanders, before Blazing Saddles, before Muhammad Ali’s training camp, there was “Two Moonlins And Mother.” Big Black’s boogaloo gem distills a lifetime of rhythm into 3 minutes of humid, percussive heat.

I would put more money on continuing to harvest infinite energy from the sun over assuming that forcing everyone to use The Machine The Lies To You is the steady basis of an entire economy
A fun question. In 5 years time, what looks better? The US’s enormous bet & capex on AI? Or China’s equally enormous bet and capex on renewables?
China has made cheap, clean energy available in huge quantities. The world should take the win econ.st/4oqFszB

I feel Whitney K's music is on par with the best stuff going on right now, and their latest, "Bubble" is their best yet. Interviewed Konner about the band and his process for @aquariumdrunkard.com and really appreciate how he opened up about it.

Beyond warning our neighbors of checkpoints, I think the primary goal of protesters encountering ICE and HSI agents should be to try to shame them into quitting their jobs. A big lift -- unlike the Guard they signed up for this shit -- but a good goal regardless
Yesterday, HSI and MPD set up a checkpoint on Rhode Island Ave in DC. Neighbors stood on either end, holding signs saying “LA MIGRA ADELATE.”
As HSI and MPD started to pack it up, residents told them, “we don’t think you’re good Americans” and “fuck you guys, go home.”

We are outraged and deeply distressed that armed federal agents came onto our campus—making arrests on the very ground where, in 1942, Japanese American families were forced to board buses bound for concentration camps. It was a deliberate act of provocation and intimidation.

There needs to be a congressional investigation into ICE and its practices. The agency needs to be completely dissolved and its agents and officers need to be prosecuted for any and all crimes committed.
What's so clear here -- and so terrifying -- is that these cops view themselves as Trump's goons and know that Trump will let them get away with anything. www.thehandbasket.co/p/federal-ag...
