I gutted the default pretty-atom-feed.xsl styling, and am pretty happy with how the RSS feed looks in a regular browser now. Not that anyone should really ever be seeing it, but good improvement all the same.

It's alive!

This post was to confirm that I have redirects set up correctly for the RSS feeds. And they do indeed work now. I'm supporting as far back as my WP */blog RSS (but not the subdomain blog.* RSS).

I'm still mad about 1Password. I tried BitWarden but got annoyed how slow and inconsistent it was. Then I switched to Proton Pass. Sure is pretty, but different things behave inconsistently. I don't think it's just that I used 1Password for forever; it really worked how I wanted it to.

I think everything's ready to go for my site. (I said that a week ago, but I've been on vacation.) I won't be integrating with standard.site quite yet, but that's on the TODO list.

I'm not ready to update my iPhone to iOS 27 yet, especially when they've complicated what used to be a single toggle. (Oh, wait, my iPhone 13 mini would do Apple Intelligence anyway!)

How to Turn Off Apple Intelligence Features on iOS 27
iOS 27 removes the master Apple Intelligence toggle, but you can still disable Mail summaries, Visual Intelligence, Type to Siri, and image creation features individually. Here's how.

No thank you. I’ll just use the web version with location turned off.

I’ll say that this is not wanted. I turn off HDR on my nonTV devices all the time because they’re too bright.
Make your logo brighter than white. Chris Bennett built a tool that turns a logo into a gain-map JPEG, so the colors you pick shine up to 7.5 times brighter than plain white on HDR screens and stay a normal JPEG everywhere else. #color #image

Apple, how do you register my opting in (which I’ll never do) so as to protect my privacy when someone else has this always-listening device?
Apple Doesn’t Want You to Worry About the New Apple Watch’s Listening Features
The new Apple Watch includes several “intelligent” listening features that have privacy and security baked in. But the protections can’t change the facts of what the tools do.

I’ve managed to get all the major format fixes for blog posts and other pages done just in time for my trip starting tomorrow. Which means this is my Friday and I definitely shouldn’t release a new site to my domain, correct? Correct.

Well worth making the time to read this today.
"Movements need victories. The Left does things that don’t work. Then we do them again in exactly the same way, and they don’t work...It dissipates people’s energies, and it creates a sense of failure."

Alongside the change to using Payhip, I'm approaching how I sell my patterns in a different way. I'm selling all of my patterns (past, present, and future) as a single bundle. If/when I create a new pattern, it'll be added to the bundle and previous buyers will get an email for the updated bundle.

"Our neighbors were just our neighbors" is a wild way for a white, straight, middle-class man to end a blog post that appears to lament the good old days when you could depend on your neighbors without knowing if their politics call for your eradication.

Is the demand for a foldable phone greater than the demand for another mini? I seriously doubt it.

I think I’m going to be re-populating my Payhip shop, instead of starting Big Cartel. Right now I’m okay with the 5% fee there, though I need to do the math of when it breaks even with $29/month.

I don’t like Arial, but I do like that others can really care about Arial. What a fascinating article about the creation of a custom version of Arial.

As I navigate BitWarden and set it up on all my devices and all my browsers, it’s clear to me that I’m very used to how 1Password does things.

Weird. I wasn’t prompted to provide a reason why I was cancelling my 1Password subscription. I wonder if they already know why.

As much as I may want platform changes to be just cut/paste, I do appreciate the time to reformat some posts, like this one. I livetweeted my first trip to San Francisco, months before I came out, wandering the city by myself.

Just pushed out a big update to my site.
- the "ingredient" lists on all the quilt and knitting blog posts have been updated to description lists
- the generic "img.jpg" coverImages all have correct images again
- all 2016 blogposts have been correctly formatted
- but my favorite update is…
