I’m saddened to learn about the passing of legendary cinematographer Rodney Charters, ASC. Probably best known for the amazing “24”, his contributions to film and TV span 6 decades. I had the privilege of interviewing him some years ago. What a storyteller.

Right now someone is on a movie set making a lousy Amityville movie for no money and I just want to hug them, to tell them that they don’t need to do this. It’s not going to be good, and the only reason to do it is if the set itself is fun. Even then, go swimming instead.

Every time I film someone in slow motion I imagine the shot being used in their “In Memoriam” package.

If I've learned one thing about expertise lately: I'm supposed to pay extra attention to anyone who bought a tiny lav mic with a fuzzy windscreen, gingerly held between their index finger & thumb while they dispense knowledge. If Socrates, Mark Twain, or GG Allin were still alive, they'd have this.
