In a patriarchal, car-dominated world that rewards “masculine energy” it’s actually a wildly subversive act to be a women on a bike. I have been yelled at, pulled, told I’m risking my children’s lives, flipped off, and ignored. And yet the joy I feel out weighs it all. #bikes destroy #patriarchy.

There’s plenty of urbanists in urban centers with access to funding and support from their city policy makers. I find it far more interesting to be building an urbanist movement in suburban America, reclaiming the streets so they work for all. Welcome to the movement we’re building in Montclair NJ:
