Take shamefully stolen from eugenics twink but it is funny how porn is often considered one of the major vices of the digital era but unlike infinite scrolling algorithmically curated content it has a very obvious end state where you get on with the rest of your life
It's kind of fucked up to think that I, a guy with 50k+ posts on a niche microblogging website, have a more healthy attitude toward my phone than the median American because I know how to put it away when other people are around or there's something else I'd rather be doing
IMHO the two ways that life in developed democracies has gotten worse is
1. People are spending less of their time on things they find meaningful due to compulsive Phone use
2. Housing costs too much in high opportunity areas
Other issues are real and significant but also red herrings tbh

This exactly. I don’t begrudge anyone for finding a way to make a living, but reducing every interaction you have, AD or otherwise, to a metric of transactions and clicks is missing the point of interacting with others to begin with.

Hot take: The furry AD scene is a lot more boring now that's it's pretty much commercialized. I think it was spicier when people weren't just cycling content, but actively looking for friends, or show off their naughty side to some special individuals.
