Mentally and physically spent. My Mum and brother are being arseholes. Caring for Dad is getting harder. MyAgedCare is taking so long just to organise a little help for him. I’m going back to work on Monday and I’m worried about him.

Poured U98 at Costco on the 21st Sep for $2.38/L because everywhere around us was $2.45/L or higher. It’s now $2.43/L at Costco and between $2.60-$2.70/L around us. My 💔 for truckies/farmers/heavy machinery users etc. Diesel/Premium/Diesel is $2.72/L at Costco. It’s $2.83-$2.99/L around us.

I am on my 2nd last load of washing for the day. I bought Dad 5 new pairs of pjs, 7 pairs jox & 6 singlets. Very lucky to find all at Kmart. This week’s dirty shirts, polos, slacks, singlets, sox & jox are all washed & already drying on the line. I wish there was more sun today. Natures sanitizer.

When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I find I put some difficult things off a bit until I feel calmer, more capable & in a better head space to tackle them. I do less difficult things instead that make me feel better, to help put me in that better place to tackle the hard stuff.

Had a routine with Mum and Dad. Now we’re living in uncertainty and a period of adjustment. Now I wake up with a knot in the pit of my stomach everyday. I don’t know if it’s the fear of change, the unknown or that I’ll be making decisions impacting my entire family soon.

The Gov said nobody would be worse off under their new Aged Care reforms. So why are older Australians dying waiting for help or not getting the correct level of support? This country is fucked. Greed is rewarded & protected. Decent ordinary people are punished just for getting old.

Caring for someone in cognitive decline is hard work and was absolutely kidding myself to think I could WFH and do it myself and also visit mum in Aged Care daily. We’re getting Dad some help. I can’t afford to stop working to care for him full time. It’s only Wed and I’m absolutely exhausted.
