The Tailspin cocktail has such a familiar-sounding name that you'd almost expect a rum-based blender drink or at least a shooter, right? Nope, it's a fairly obscure riff on the old Bijou cocktail (gin, Chartreuse, sweet vermouth, orange bitters).

The Grasshopper cocktail looks, tastes, and feels like melted mint chocolate ice cream. It's over indulgent, over the top, and neon green as hell. Pretty much exactly what I'd hoped it would be.

My wife's description of the Rob Roy cocktail I made last night: "Tastes like butt." Not sure if that's a reflection on the drink or drink maker. Anyway, if you like Scotch and you like Manhattans, or butts I guess, you might be a Rob Roy fan.

Scotch and Drambuie is a Rusty Nail. Scotch and less Drambuie is a Donald Sutherland. I don't know why and I don't care, I'm just glad that it is.

Geddy Lee's "My Effin' Life" is an enduring autobiography about life as 1/3 of the ultimate power trio, RUSH. I had intended to actually write about the book, but instead I just reflect on memories it conjures of my buddies & I in our teenage idiot days.
