Contrast is actually really important for appeal. Not just contrast between your characters and their timing, but also within the scenes, sequences and overall season.
If you pump everything up to 12/10 right out of the gate you have to stay there and people expect you to keep going.

If you're an artist who hasn't written many stories before, I don't think it's a good idea to start with a big pilot or something. Writing takes just as much practice as making art, they both take a long time to learn and get right and there's a lot to it
