I love MLB history, the Atlanta Braves, stats, fun facts, trivia, and dad jokes. Baseball Reference Brand Ambassador and longtime Stathead helper.

Other enthusiasms: Super Mario, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spaceballs, The Matrix, SQL…

I'm new here, but I've been on Twitter since 2008 and @ BravesStats on there since 2013.

Lots of Major League Baseball chatter (stats, history, trivia and fun facts, official rules, CBA details, etc.), often focused on the Atlanta Braves but for love of the game first.
100% agreed.

Braves first, but after the Braves, I am entirely behind (in this order) the Brewers, Padres, Rays.

If the Braves lose the NLCS, I am entirely behind the team that beats us. Only the best shall win, so if you beat us, you better win!

Unless you're the stupid Dodgers.
Rasmussen was amazing. Good win for the Rays. Would love to see a Rays-Padres or Rays-Brewers WS. None have ever won and they are all smaller TV markets. It would be Manfred's worst nightmare for both ratings and his BS CBA proposals.

Don't let Merzel write the narrative.

Pitch a perfect game.
NEWS: The home-plate umpire for game one of the NL Wild Card in Atlanta is Dan Merzel

He's the umpire that called a balk on Chris Sale in NYC & then ejected him the next day, and he ejected Phillies hitting coach Kevin Long last week

Trying to figure out if they could have found a WORSE choice

Re: EW 2531

I think intra-division matchups in Sept are a stronger driver of attendance than more playoff spots. That said, expand to 32 and we no longer need constant interleague. Bring back late Sept rivalry weeks.

Pete Crow-Armstrong has the 12th 39/39 season in MLB history.

Before he joins the 40/40 Club, let's recognize how close Jose Ramirez, Matt Kemp, Vladimir Guerrero, and Bobby Bonds came... and how close Alfonso Soriano came to doing it twice!

Unlikely, but if…

* White Sox lose all 6 (Royals, Rockies)
* Rangers lose 4 of 6 (Mets, Twins)
* Astros lose 3 of 6 (M's, A's)
* Blue Jays lose 3 of 6 (O's, Reds)
* O's lose 1 of 6 (Blue Jays, Yankees)

…two sub-.500 teams would make the playoffs.

With the Braves win and Astros loss...

The #Braves have clinched the NL East title.

The #RedSox have clinched a wild card berth.

Michael Jackson's thriller was released 16,000 days ago.

On the day it was released, the Wizard of Oz (released in 1939) was younger than Thriller is today.

Xander Bogaerts is the first player in Padres history with a homer and triple in an inning

He’s the second in MLB this year, joining Tristan Peters on 7/10

Before this year, it hadn’t happened since Shin-Soo Choo on 4/26/17

Any Alien Ant Farm fans on here? They released the 25th anniversary remaster of ANThology this year (Movies, Smooth Criminal, etc.)... and let me just tell you, their 2024 album ~mAntras~ is all that plus 23 years of experience.

Love. It.

Anyway. Back to business.

I posted a blog response to this episode, particularly the Future of MLB Umpires segment (and the suggestion that they will be gone in 10 years).

Spoiler alert: I don't disagree, but I do.

It's a quick read.
