This is the sort of journalism we get when a newsroom isn't beholden to SEO, chasing guide traffic or ... *shudders* pumping out garbage with AI. Someone had a question, looked into it, and wrote about it! Nice job, @adashtra.bsky.social.

I have a lot of disposable income if you take out some of my biggest expenses.
Ah well then

One cool thing about a lot of FPS games in the N64 era (like Turok) was that you could change the blood color. My very strict, very anti-gun mom was ever so slightly more accepting of me playing a game if my enemies at least bled green instead of red, because it was less lifelike.
What video game would your parents not let you play when you were a kid? Were you able to successful argue and/or trick them into letting you play it?

Shoot, this sucks. The Moss games were truly great VR experiences with a lot of charm. I've been meaning to check out the newer non-VR release they did.

Rescued this from my local library’s book sale because I couldn’t imagine anybody other than me picking it up from the kids/Disney section.

The pitch in this video was that it was inspired by Infinity Blade and Souls-like games, which got my attention. (The striking visuals also helped.)

I'm so glad that the Playdate is still going strong. Season 3 is looking interesting.
🚨 Playdate Season 3 Spoiler 🚨

I'm incredibly happy to announce that my Action-RPG/Dungeon Crawler Gloom Gate will be included in Season 3 for @play.date 💛

My Kirby-loving son is going to lose his mind when he sees this trailer. He gravitates to the open worlds of Mario Odyssey and Donkey Kong Bananza, so if this is that but Kirby it’s right up his alley.

A real, no joke thing my 7 year-old said when I showed him the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake trailer:

"Wait, can you jump whenever you want? Then that's the game for me."

(He has played but not finished the original OoT.)

It’s been a very long time since I’ve bought any sort of special edition console. Are the Nintendo ones usually more expensive than the standard system? A $20 premium on top of the $50 price hike that just happened this month feels… steep.

Do I already own these in both hardcover and softcover, one of which was signed by Rand Miller? Yes.

Do I also have the more recent Book of Atrus re-release? Yes.

Am I still going to get these? [Sigh] Probably.
Prepare for an adventure that spans Ages with a new ultra-deluxe hardcover collection of the Myst novel trilogy - available for the first time in nearly three decades.

Coming soon to Kickstarter!

"looks AI as fuck" is a very irresponsible thing to say about things that are expressly not using AI <3 idc if you wanna insult nintendo bc it's a huge corp but i DO care if you are constantly accusing things that are not AI of looking like AI if only bc it's a boring insult

I think I like a lot about this, including a lot of the NPC models. It’s really just the main character models that aren’t sitting right with me.

But the original Ocarina of Time was such a formative game for me that it’s impossible for me to look at it without nostalgia goggles.

I’m sorry but I am, in fact, going to be extra at least once and play Zelda’s Lullaby on my real ocarina to do it in-game.

Yes, this. A few nights ago I told my wife (and myself) that I wasn't sure I wanted to boot up Star Wars Zero Company because I didn't have enough time to truly get into it before I needed to sleep.

Spoiler: I played it anyway and stayed up way too late as a result.
Star Wars Zero Company is absolutely one of those "just one more round!" games, but the problem is that every round is quite a time commitment and not something I like to leave unfinished.

Which is all to say, I've had several later-than-planned nights since it launched... 😩🥱
