Funny how when people are skint it’s always “let’s reduce tax on fuel” rather than “let’s reduce bus and train fares.”
Petrol and diesel prices are higher than they've been for a long time and people need help now.

AI data centers are buying up memory chips, forcing up the price of virtually all our consumer electronics. It was great to have @papapishu.bsky.social back on the show to understand why this is happening, how’s benefiting, and what people are doing in response.
Apple is hiking its hardware prices. Xbox consoles are going up again. Sub-$500 laptops basically don’t exist anymore

This week @papapishu.bsky.social joins @parismarx.com to discuss how the RAM crisis is coming for everyone—all thanks to the data centers.

So we have the Home Secretary's statement on changes to immigration and asylum, and, despite the attempt to spin it otherwise, they are some of the most regressive measures we have seen. 1/

Always worth thinking: punishment for what crime? And in the case of Cuba it is: taking the CIA's offshore brothel and gambling island off it.
This is evil collective punishment.
Cuba's minister of energy confirmed reserves are gone — with just enough diesel left to keep hospitals online. The UN has classified Washington's blockade a humanitarian crisis.

With the price of fuel going up by the week, change lanes to avoid the impact. Bus tickets are capped at £20 a week. Walking and cycling short trips is free.

Fewer short car trips also means less congestion, more reliable public transport, safer and better roads, cleaner air, and healthier people.

Social media is no longer social. Most of it is passive viewing of videos and pictures from people we've never met.

But we're still studying social media like it's 2010.

We've entered the post-social media era — and research needs to catch up.

The rebranded Evening Standard, now weekly, is a pale imitation of the former paper. Main story about two nepo babies. Barely any news about London. Content taken from social media. More like a Sunday magazine than a newspaper. Everyone involved should be thoroughly ashamed.
