I feel like it's going to be a problem - maybe in the next couple weeks, maybe the playoffs - that the career reliever turned manager still has an awful feel for his all-time great bullpen.

Not saying either were bad deals because, man, that rotation was thin, but it's incredible how bad Ray & Mize have been as Padres. Since the deadline, 127 SPs have logged 20+ IP. Before today, both were in the Bottom 10 with a -0.2 fWAR
If things stand, Mize's current -0.4 fWAR would be the worst.

I know it's *technically* true, but Don saying the Padres put four balls in play last inning as some sort of positive against Skenes loses a bit of meaning when one of those balls was a sacrifice bunt.
