It’s my birthday.

Basketball has given me so much—friends, purpose, adventure, and a whole lot of joy.

Now I want us to pay it forward.

Instead of buying me a birthday beer, buy a Guatemalan kid a basketball.

Hoops Sagrado.

Are you nativist nationalists really trying to get me to root for France?

Seriously—23 of France’s 26 players were born in France. Educated in France. Raised in France. Developed through French youth football.

@maustermuhle.bsky.social asked Mendo a great question this morning about the DC Council simply allowing the Mayor to continue letting numerous agency heads (including at MPD) to illegally serve on an interim basis past 180 days, and his response was essentially 🤷‍♂️

Tells you a lot…

Honored to be counted among DC’s great socialist icons: Janeese Lewis George, Aparna Raj, Oye Owolewa, and apparently me. 😂

Congratulations, Mayor-elect Janeese Lewis George.

Bruh…the negative campaigning is kicking into high gear and it’s more annoying than the regular campaigning. I just got a negative campaign text from @lisaraymondfordc.bsky.social and Greg Jackson against Oye. I was gonna rank those two but maybe not now. Sheesh folks.

What is up with this weird text attacking Oye? Do Greg Jackson and Lisa Raymond endorse this? Who even paid for this?

I’m guessing Opportunity DC because of the vanity shortlink, but there’s no info and the root level of the website goes to an opt out page with no disclaimer or privacy policy.

FIFA President Infantino gave Mexican President Sheinbaum ticket number 00001 to the World Cup opening match. Sheinbaum gave it to Yolett Cuaquehua, a 21-year-old Indigenous woman from Veracruz. Sheinbaum will watch the game in the Zocalo, the public central square in Mexico City, with the people.

Proud of this team. 💙

In the rain, in the cold, in the heat—they keep showing up.

Knocking doors. Listening to neighbors. Sharing a message of hope and a vision for a more affordable, welcoming DC.

This campaign is powered by people who believe our city can be better.

Candidates who accept support from notorious outside dark money organizations should not be surprised when that support becomes a subject of public scrutiny. 🤷‍♂️

Oye Owolewa & his biggest little fan at the Make DC Home immigration roundtable in MtP.

Ethiopia, El Salvador, Nigeria, Guatemala, the Caribbean, the Midwest — sharing about starting over, building community & making a life in DC.

DC keeps building a wider table.

Messy. Loud. Human. Very DC.

D.C. Shadow Rep. Oye Owolewa is charting a new path to statehood, partnering with Puerto Rico’s Sen. Charlie Rodríguez on a two-state strategy aimed at building broader congressional support for full representation and equal rights.

Key here is the LLC problem. It has been a known issue in DC politics for decades ( @bryanweaverdc.bsky.social ran on it! ) yet no one has fixed it.

LLC ownership needs to be 100% transparent. It needs to be done yesterday. The next mayor & council should make this a day one priority. #DCision26
BREAKING: We are filing an unprecedented civil RICO lawsuit to dismantle a fraudulent slumlord empire in DC.

The Razjooyans spun a web of brazen fraud and severe housing neglect that exploits tenants, lenders, and the District — and worsens DC's housing crisis.

We will shut it down.
