To make room for the approach to the new companion bridge, a portion of Longworth Hall was recently taken down. But the bricks are not gone. Crews are carefully reclaiming them to reconstruct the east facade, restoring it to the appearance captured in this image. #TBT

Plans include the construction of a new cable-stayed companion bridge alongside the existing Brent Spence Bridge, one of the worst truck bottlenecks in the United States, while overhauling approaches and connections on both sides of the Ohio River.

Q: Will the current bridge go away after the new one opens?

A: No, the bridge will remain in place, stay open during construction, and be reconfigured to three lanes on each deck to carry local traffic.

The new bridge will carry I-71 and I-75, separating local from regional and national travel.
