O Brother is a movie I thought about constantly while watching Sinners. Those two movies use music in very similar ways. Both movies find a way to make old time music feel alive and vital and of this moment
The other week I went to the theater & saw Oh Brother, Where Art Thou because I thought it’d be cute after seeing The Odyssey & what I came away feeling was an indescribable emotion I haven’t felt since watching Sinners, of being fully immersed, enthralled & entertained by every element of a film.

Donald Trump admits what DOJ and most of the legacy media refuse to. The U.S. Postal Service mail-in ballot rule was a partisan effort to help the GOP. SCOTUS' decision was, in his words: "a big loss for Republicans."

And of course OpenAI and Anthropic are running with it too. Rogue AI narratives easily let them off the hook for their sloppy (and embarrassing) development decisions.

While also making it look to their eager investors like they're inventing god...

One time, and I promise this is true, Bush gave a flip remark about violence while playing golf and it became a defining moment for his legacy.

This president shrugging about a war he started while overseas at a golf tournament that is lining his own pockets won’t be remembered in two weeks.
Q: What do you make of the Gulf nations meeting with Iran?

TRUMP: I don't care. That's up to them. We'll ultimately get out. Unless we decide to stay and keep the oil! Like Venezuela

9/11 is a great day to reread my viral Seinfeld spec and to remember I’m one of the most talented TV writers available to write for your show. I have $225k in student loans and my family is about to pay OOP for my dad’s post-stroke rehab, so you’d better believe I’m gonna give you my best!

we don’t teach young people short-term history, so it was weird when i realized that gen z had no idea that so many gen x and millennials spent our high school years protesting george w bush

and not just because of the wars, but because mosques were being targeted and sikh men were being attacked
There are already articles circulating trying to rewrite history and say America was great after 9/11 and united and thoughtful and just a reminder that that period was marked by intense and insanely racist hatred, paranoia, and a frothing desire for unhinged violence and oppression.

You’ve gotta use AI because it’s the future. But also it’ll take your job. But also it’ll create a paradise on earth and solve most of our problems. But also it’ll end humanity soon. But also you’ll get left behind if you don’t use it right now.

One of the reasons people are viscerally mad about AI is that it is constantly publicly being used to violate millennia-old but today-largely-unspoken social taboos.
