For a substantial part of Butterfly on a Wheel, David and Jeanette live as housemates in a nice house in Berkeley near the UC campus. They live with David's two cats and his terrier, Widget.

In the framing device of Butterfly, Jeanette is living in her Detroit mock-Tudor

What is your character's living situation like?

Do they have roommates? Pets? Live with family? Alone in a mansion? On the road? On a ship? Other?

Are they happy where they are, or striving for something else?

TBH, I write for myself, because I want to see my thoughts cohere into something concrete.

When I was a fanfiction writer I was a fairly popular one in my smallish, weird corner of fandom. I loved loved loved reviews and loved loved loved interaction with other writers. But

I've said this before, but...

Because I am compelled. I've been doing it since I could hold a pencil. I have to write things, and if fiction isn't flowing in the moment I write topical essays on social media and whatnot. My brain percolates with words that go together. It just is.

And around it, four planets slowly orbiting.

Four real exoplanets, each more massive than Jupiter, imaged as they move around their host star.

If I knew anything about screenwriting, I would write the script for an origin story of Walter Peck, the EPA agent in Ghostbusters, that recasts him as a tragic hero. Showing how he was correctly responding to a legitimate public safety threat, and thwarted at every turn.
