New Jersey prison guards’ union endorses bid to roll back solitary confinement limits, @byadamrhodes.bsky.social reports. This move continues a decadelong trend of law enforcement unions opposing limits on how incarcerated people are allowed to be isolated & for how long.

@postguild.bsky.social and @wbng.org are the unions I belong to. I was able to challenge my wrongful termination because of the collective bargaining agreement / union contract!

NEW: Meltdowns, threats & FOP influence have marred the fight for civilian police accountability in Chicago. Some police district councilors question the future of the body they serve on as they battle CPD interests to get things done.

The fault lines run deep. From @zoetakaki.bsky.social:
Civilian oversight blues: inside Chicago’s ongoing police accountability meltdown
Chicago has a new community police oversight body that emerged in response to the historic 2020 protests. According to those elected to serve, however, it’s already full of cops.

HUGE: If the provisional data holds, CDPH says these numbers would be the lowest number of new HIV diagnoses since the agency began recording them, and the lowest number of new AIDS diagnoses since the mid-1980s.
New from CDPH: New HIV and AIDS diagnoses are on a major decline in Chicago, which comes months after the Trump Administration threatened millions in HIV-related funding for a handful of Democrat-led states.

I covered the proposed cuts for the @chicagoreader.com: chicagoreader.com/news/trump-i...
