The whole point of VAR is to correct mistakes, but they're saying unanimously that even though it was wrong, it shouldn't have warranted a review.

KMI panel ruled 5 to 0 that John Brookes had made an incorrect call awarding the penalty to Sunderland for what he viewed as a foul by Ezri Konsa on Dan Ballard.
However by 3 to 2 they viewed it as correct that VAR didn’t intervene.

A very high level half of football. Brighton are fantastic. I honestly don’t think there was much in it, but they pulled out 2 incredible finishes and we didn’t quite find the openings. I think there will be a massive overreaction about how we played due to the scoreline 🤷♂️
