over a year ago, i gave a talk at the xoxo conference about a mural, a mcdonald’s, and a man. (but it was also secretly about life, and legacy, and meaning.)

finally, i’m blogging the full story, with behind-the-scenes details, and a video of the talk.

enjoy. cabel.com/wes-cook-and...

my co-worker thomas took this picture on the road last year… and i simply will never stop thinking about it.

it's been on my desktop ever since. i open it up every now and then to just ponder the universe. you see why, right?

Are you in a different time zone? Watching an inferior update video this morning? Just generally out of the loop?

You might not have heard about the Playdate Season 3 which includes “Sound Mind,” the latest from reclusive, inscrutable, game developer Chuck Jordan.

can anyone who understands math help

with a trade-in and Apple Upgrade, the duo will cost me $25.89/mo for 12 months, or $31.10/mo for 24 months.

why is the 12-month lease payment lower than the 24-month lease payment?!

(if i remove the trade-in, the 12-month lease payment is higher than the 24.)

you just know kevin bayliss made this wrinkle texture in kai's power tools
Wrinkly Kong has always been wrinkly. However, for decades, her Donkey Kong Country 3 artwork was not available in a high enough resolution to see just how wrinkly she was. In 2025, Nintendo Music finally revealed it in a quality high enough to truly see the immense wrinkliness of her skin.

all around the world, over the course of many years, a bunch of white street and parking lights slowly turned blue/purple, when a special yellow phosphor coating that turned blue light into white gradually delaminated. nobody knew this defect would happen, it just took time. i think that's beautiful

a month ago i cold turkey’d caffeine and dropped my many-coke-zeros-a-day habit. (for now!)

the weirdest part is that, after two weeks, “diet soda aftertaste” detectors fully return. i tried a sip of coke zero and it was incredibly disgusting. when you drink it regularly, where does that taste… go?

one of my stranger pieces of disney things is this WDI button from 1988. was it for animal kingdom's abandoned beastly kingdom team? was it for the Epcot china pavilion team? i don't know.

(but i understand that this phrase has an additional, darker meaning, so its a real weird one.)
