Nurse.
Horses also observe a social hierarchy. Bluesky will always be your turf, your pasture, scolds.

I like writing, except when I hate it. It would be great to make money from it down the line. If I don't meet a self-imposed deadline, that's okay, because the bills will still be paid. If I've inspired any fun characters in other people's writings, that's okay!

Especially those stalwarts still working in prestige media! Jesus.

There are former journalists who are AI content engineers. Would encourage their peers grieving the state of their profession (or vocation) to reflect on whether they can truly recover their equanimity and sense of security by trying to take those lower in social standing to task.

Never filed a noise complaint. I ask directly.

Have been routinely masking in subways and at work this year. Didn't last year and would get a cold every couple of months.

Not planning to make a Pilgrimage to Rome anytime soon.

Too much familiarity breeds entitlement.

To be perfectly clear: there has never been any correspondence. Just a lot of martyred feelings over an account it was easy to feel good reading when life was going well and less so when life was not.

Trying to end on a better note: I have to write to my interests, background and strengths and think about what I'd be leaving on the table if I don't. Editing and critique can come later, but struggle sessions on this platform are not helpful, and it's past the time to disengage.

Inspiration for fiction has to come from somewhere. The aim is to write fully realized human beings at a remarkable time, not to name and shame. Get a grip, Bluesky.

If a WOC peer has claimed to their whisper network that you plagiarized their ideas and ungratefully rebuffed their editorial assistance, how much grace should be granted by the target?

I've not asked anyone (people I know, people I don't know) to read through or edit any fiction I've written, because I have to think it's not terrible first. Maybe that will change in the future, maybe it won't. Back to usual programming.

"The house hadn't fared any better under the Tidewater Harrisons. You don't neglect old brick, and by the time Kuwait was finally free, you couldn't see the rosettes on the door trims under the 14 layers of crumbling plaster."

Every Canadian politician has to make an obligatory pilgrimage to the Calgary Stampede and dress in a cowboy hat.

I cannot for the life of me however understand who would choose to make a "warrior not woke" speech in an outfit that makes you look like a bit Gospel singer from Texas.
can't stop laughing at this

Poilievre: "We will reinstill a warrior culture, not a woke culture."

It hasn't been bad working today. I get out early enough and back home late enough that I miss the worst of the heat. Having a 22-min walk to the subway in Flushing while working night shift last summer was much worse.

Ahead of its 250th birthday, I make the case that the greatest work of American art ever produced is made of garbage and was assembled at the behest of God by a Black man working the night shift as a janitor in DC johnpaulbrammer.substack.com/p/americas-g...

Normally I'm happy for patients getting ice cream as a holiday treat, but let's NOT give Häagen-Dazs to a floor full of diabetics.

Discussion of disposition options: cryogenically, next to her daughter who has been cryogenically frozen for 28 years; in a mausoleum; next to her second husband, who is buried next to his first wife.

Also being very well-fed. I have gotten curry goat, Melona bars, pork buns from Fay Da, and more candy than there are territorial disputes.

Working with the Asian psych nurses means hearing about "the tita special" (haldol oral solution + standard hospital cocktails in a punch bowl) from some old-timers and working with the stomach flu due to not wanting to call out from other ones.

I like to take lunch early but sometimes my first break is scheduled as late as 2:30pm and I end up googling "can desert onion (沙葱 - which is like garlic chive but milder and better) be grown in a pot?"
