And on the reverse journey - getting my uterus removed, thus in one act eliminating the most significant source of routine/chronic pain in my life and the root of what dysphoria I did have, improved my life far more than I even dared hope for.
Going from an assumed mostly normal male body to discovering I had a very intersex body and menstruating for the first time in my 40s really exposes just how easy cis men have it in life. Men make fun of periods, the most painful routine bodily function, but they never face a similar pain.
