what a terrible decision @stanforduniversity.bsky.social - especially in light of Cornell. Shameful to be leaving your students vulnerable at a time like this. As an alum and parent of an alum I am outraged. Do better

It's not enough to just take this shit down in 2.5 years. We've gotta desecrate it. Flip it over and turn it into a halfpipe. Make the sides of it a dog park so something can piss and shit on it. It's the only way out of this.

President AOC, I will make this happen free of charge.

Yep. And the so-called wine moms too
In the midst of an awful lot of ever-so-sophisticated equivocating and oh-so-thoughtful-chin-stroking and too-clever-by-half-over-thinking, I just want to say, simply and unequivocally and for the record:

The Resistance Libs Were Right.

She is in fact very very generous to them by suggesting the majority maybe didn’t see what the administration is up to - when they obviously see it and ruled, yet once again, with malice aforethought to aid and abet the trashing of our electoral system and the very idea of democratic legitimacy.

The next reconstruction:

- Expand the House to 700 Seats
- Use MMP to create a multi-party system with PR
- Use RCV for US Senate elections
- End the filibuster + add DC
- Limit the power of the Supreme Court
- Expand the court to 13 Justices
- Term limits and ethics rules for the court
House expansion is crucial. There should be at least 700 House seats.
Expand the SCOTUS and the House

I have a piece in the NYT today arguing that the law should permit victims of ICE abuse to sue not just individual officers, but supervisors and policymakers like Stephen Miller and Gregory Bovino.

A Democratic president and Congress could do this in 2029. And they could make it retroactive.

just worth emphasizing here that there's no way to deport 30 million people without committing genocide. ethnic cleansing on this scale always, always leads to mass death, and is intended to.
wrote about why ICE keeps killing people.

it's because they're part of a pretty explicitly genocidal project. trump wants them to kill people, and so they do. www.everythingishorrible.net/p/ices-missi...

If this is accurate, even a "Trump says this, but evidence does not support it story" will be insufficient. This speech is part of an explicit threat against democracy, to overturn and control democratic outcomes. If we can't call this out clearly, we are lost.

Justice Brown Jackson's argument for birthright citizenship is very moving. I recommend reading it in full. An excerpt with alt-text below.

People, for the love of God, please stop treating birthright as some kind of sweeping victory.

It was 5-4 on the constitutional issue. The dissent laid out a fucking ROADMAP for what Trump should do next. The court always gives Trump multiple bites at the apple WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU HAPPY ABOUT?

About Trump v. Barbara: Do not give the Court and the CJ credit for reading and upholding the Constitution. It's a travesty that this is not a unanimous decision... it's also a travesty that the Court let this question percolate for a year, giving credence to a crank theory of citizenship.

Donald Trump came one vote away from getting the Supreme Court to say that the 14th Amendment does not guarantee birthright citizenship for the children of undocumented and temporary immigrants, a view held only by fringe far-right nativists until VERY recently. This is shocking. I am stunned.

It’s important to keep today’s birthright citizenship decision in context. First, SCOTUS left the status of a fundamental, explicitly articulated constitutional right uncertain for over a year all to affirm what was clear from the issuance of Trump’s EO. Birthright citizenship cannot be abridged.
