what do you think happens when a bunch of people see this ad over and over again that aren't already dedicated allies? even if it doesn't sway their vote because it's not the most salient issue for them it still has an effect on them. they're still going to internalize some of this.

Users also nearly always excuse the behavior of their friends, but want their opponents suspended. The result - almost no one is happy with the result. Our moderation software isn't set up to send notices on patterns of activity - so people tend to go 'well that 1 post in the email wasn't that bad'.

So like, just in theory if one were to say something to the effect of "bluesky trust and safety team and their ai code prompt pasters should be rounded up and shot" would that be as similarly non actionable? so the official bluesky policy position is that you can't tell someone to kill themselves but you can tell a protected minority category that you hope that state kills them. Am i getting that right.
Are they threatening trans users directly? No. Trans folks in the US have been targeted repeatedly. That's awful and you have my sympathy.
Within the context of a single post we wouldn't consider it a direct threat or targeting a protected category. Ie send trans folks to concentration camps.

There are a bunch of people serving 4-5 year prison sentences right now because they talked, on a Zoom call, about blocking roadways for an environmental action. Talked on a Zoom call. 5 years in prison. And yet police didn't bother to arrest any of the people blocking roadways in this case.
