It used to be that me preffering Japanese games was just me being a weeb but these days it feels like Japanese companies are the only ones that aren’t insane.

It used to be that me preffering Japanese games was just me being a weeb but these days it feels like Japanese companies are the only ones that aren’t insane.
I hope WoW Forever is successful and causes a tide shift in the MMO market. It feels like many players have lost appreciation for horizontal progression and MMO developers doubled down on vertical progression. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with that but it does make your game feel smaller.

NGL it almost feels unreal that Digimon Games are like mainstream good now. During the PS1 & PS2 era I'd say the games basically required being a fan of the franchise to look past their shortcomings.
Digimon Story: Time Stranger got a Japan Game Awards 2026 Excellence award alongside nearly a dozen other games. This is functionally a follow-up to the Japan Game Awards 2025 future award it won last year.

NGL it almost feels unreal that Digimon Games are like mainstream good now. During the PS1 & PS2 era I'd say the games basically required being a fan of the franchise to look past their shortcomings.

A week-long boycott with an pre-announced enddate showed no impact? Color me surprised! You either boycott completely or not at all. Sincerely, person who stopped playing PlayStation 6 years ago.
Recent 'PlayStation Blackout' initiative yielded "no significant change at all in player count or engagement in our tracking", at least in the US

I see some people make fun of this announcement but it honestly makes sense. Reforged was notoriously undercooked when it launched and the game has been silently improving over the years but without any major content updates, many players never bothered to give the game a second chance.
