About 15 to 20 years ago, I needed a username to post on some video game site that doesn't exist anymore. 1979's Alien was on TV, and it was at the scene where they talked about using a prod to corral the alien.

I hate all or nothing subtitles where you need to turn them on just to read the non-English dialogue in an otherwise English show.

Bloody hell, if that emergency phone alert had gone off while I was walking down the stairs with my phone in my pocket I'd probably be dead.

The fact that they're trying to wring 10 hours of content out a book that fit comfortably in a 2 hour movie means it's going to be a *slog*. They could've made the first season cover two books and still need to pad it out.
The Columbus movies are already ABOUT as literal an adaptation as you could've made short of transcribing the book into screenplay format word-for-word. This appears to be that, again, plus the typical streaming bullshit where they cram in wheelspinning nonsense to pad the episode count.

This was the first extended comic run I read that wasn't something my brother was already buying or some sort of cartoon tie-in, I really lucked out picking up the first issue by DeMatteis and Buscema pretty much at random.
I've read a TON of Spidey stories in my life, and I think my favorite - and the one that's impacted me the most, in terms of bringing joy as a reader and an influence on me as a writer is "The Child Within" by @jmdematteis.bsky.social and the legendary Sal Buscema.

Peter Cullen did some audio commentaries for the show Transformers Prime and my favorite moment was when the human sidekick named Raf appeared, Cullen asked producer Rafael Ruthchild "How do you come up with character names? It must be SO HARD."

I thought it was unfortunate timing when this cover came out less than a month after James Earl Jones passed away, but it was just a one-off variant cover, not the entire basis of all Star Wars marketing for the year.

Five years later and I just realized that the town in WandaVision is called Westview so it has the same initials as the show, WV.

I think this premise would feel more realistic if the backstory was literally 'a wizard did it'.

I read Robert E. Howard's very first Conan story and it had a framing sequence of a present day guy flashing back to his past life as Conan and imagine if the movies and the Marvel series and everything else all included that.

I have conflicting feeling on box office numbers, I want to celebrate the Odyssey spiting the chuds, but I'm also rolling my eyes at the new Minions being called a failure because it "only" made 4 times its budget.

Are gifs broken again? I saw a post with a gif that wouldn't load and when I clicked through to try to get it to work it was already deleted, like it was broken on the poster's end as well.
