The Bundibugyo Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has passed a tragic milestone.

Just 11 weeks after it was declared, the outbreak has reached 3,748 confirmed cases, making it the second-largest Ebola outbreak in history and the fastest-growing ever recorded.

With the Bundibugyo outbreak the fastest-growing Ebola epidemic on record, CEPI is providing up to $8.5m to Hilleman Laboratories, a joint MSD-Wellcome Trust venture, to accelerate development and manufacture of an rVSV vaccine candidate for clinical trials.
