Eclectic weirdo into tech, astrophotography, politics, health care, and whatever else people are wrong about on the internet. No I am not trolling, I am really that pedantic.
100% they are looting right in front of our eyes.
these are our pianos, not theirs! I know this stuff can feel secondary with all of the immediate pain this admin causes, but in the face of such personalism, it also feels important to assert the democratic principle that these cultural inheritances don't belong to the president, they belong to us
Y'all I just caught the Kennedy Center claiming it isn't closing while telling vendors it's closing and now they're selling all of their Steinway pianos

Satya on AI: “The real benchmark is: the world growing at 10 percent."
RBADVISERS: “.. Nominal GDP comes in at 8.5%. The strongest growth in 20 years (ex pandemic effects) suggesting the 5.25% 10-YEAR YIELD MIGHT STILL BE TOO LOW.”

AI implemented on abstract hardware will never experience perception the way physically evolved entities do.

There is nothing that a computer program or digital representation can be “about” without someone deciding to map values to meaning.

After getting to use them a while, Astra/Fable do indeed feel like a real step change.

Never before have I gotten 10 page docs that don’t have hallucinations, require minimal edits, and don’t sound like slop.

Granted I am using skills and tooling, but right now feels like when Opus 4.5 arrived…

What a great way to put it. The labs are in fact legitimately spooked and no one wants to believe it for *reasons*. Sometimes things can in fact be taken at face value.

Also, we said things would get weird. This is one example.

I’ve always wanted to ask André 3000 when he found out “Hey Ya!” was actually about the genocide of Native Americans by white settlers.

Shit AND poop, you say?
When I worked for The Onion, practically everyone who visited the office would ask how they could submit headlines. This one stoner delivery guy was so persistent, we finally told him he could submit 10 headlines on spec and we'd take a look. First one on his list was "Shit and poop are Stinky!!!"
if i wrote for the onion i'd write a headline that was like "Breaking News: The president is an orange!" and then you'd click it and the article would be like "An orange-haired no-good crook, that is!" that might seem a little mean-spirited but the way i see it, i'd get a click and you'd get a laugh

I’m struggling to understand the “but” here…
September 3, 2026 at 3:07 AM
I’m starting to think that an unexpected side effect of the AI era will actually be improved security. When there’s no where left to hide, things get cleaned up quick.
This didn't take long... 😬

Because it’s not. You have to not understand how many things actually work to believe this stupidity.
It didn’t feel possible.

The depths to which I hold hatred in my heart for Verizon is unfathomable. I feel bad for the remaining human support personnel, who are left dealing with very angry customers who only got to them after being put through the gauntlet of pain and suffering required to get any real support.

If you showed this to an alien and told them this person was intellectually disabled but had a lot of money and strange interests, this picture would make more sense to the alien than it does to us.

So fucking weird.

For fuck’s sake people, that Yale study is a bunch of nonsense that makes EXTREMELY unrealistic assumptions to come to this absurd conclusion.

They don’t deal with the fact that medicare rates are negative margin for most providers. In reality, their plan would result in hospital closures.
🚨NEW: Hakeem Jeffries declared his opposition to Medicare For All 72 hours after a Yale study shows it would save 100,000 lives & $1 trillion.

Context: Jeffries raked in $391k from health PACs in 2026 & faced no primary pressure to hold the line on Dem priorities because a primary was blocked.
Hakeem Jeffries’ Betrayal Shows Why Democratic Voters Are So Enraged
House Dems’ leader declared his opposition to Medicare For All on the same day a new poll shows almost all Democratic voters support it.

As someone who has written and maintained software for decades, it’s ALL slop. It always has been.

Popsicle sticks and duct-tape underly so much tech, people have no idea.

And the responses in this thread are full of completely illogical anti AI hysteria. AI has broken the brains of the left. 🙄

When I lived in GA there was a LOT of apathy on the left and every “independent” voted GOP. Thank you MAGA for turning GA blue!
Make it real BLUE!

Jon Ossoff holds a 9 point lead over Mike Collins in a new poll, with less than four months remaining before voters decide.

Truly awful. He switches from “other NGOs could pick up the slack” to “the state department continued funding” without any realization that he is contradicting himself. Saying anything he can to avoid acknowledging the consequences of his actions.
He's quite possibly one of the worst people to have ever lived.

Good news! The fund is almost depleted already and all they have to do to cut benefits is nothing!

Every Democrat should be running on a platform to rescue social security and make their GOP opponents have to answer for it. It’s a political gift that only the Dems could fumble…
I really hope everybody understands that everything repugs say about Social Security is about one thing THEM STEALING EVERY SINGLE CENT OF THAT FUND FOR THEIR PERSONAL BANK ACCOUNTS AND NOTHING ELSE!

It’s well known that one doesn’t announce their death in an election year. Need to let the voters decide.
Well, where is he? If he's dead, we should know this.

My biggest complaint with his supporters has always been that they accepted cheap talk over consistent character.
And this is why it was so easy for Graham Platner to say All The Right Things to become a darling of the left.

Yeah it’s crazy to claim this “wouldn’t be made today” nonsense while Netflix is platforming Tony fucking Hinchcliffe.

Yeah you all have been whipped into a frenzy.

This skeet is also classic propaganda with an ingroup victimhood narrative. Both messages rely on the same rhetorical structure: delegitimizing dissent by attributing it to malign influence rather than addressing the substance of the disagreement.

Vets get paid relatively little and often have huge debts from 8 years of college/vet school. They have the highest rates of suicide. It’s not private equity, it’s Baumol’s cost disease as a result of workers getting paid more across the board.

A better paid working class = unaffordable vets.
It’s insane how expensive medical care for your pet is these days. There is NO way my family could afford this kind of stuff growing up at the prices they are now.

Private equity is a cancer to everything it touches.

Does it matter that the vast majority of AI usage will not be surveillance? Nope… always gotta keep people scared of the boogeyman to muster that sweet, sweet engagement driving anger.

They call them “mass surveillance centers” because “solving biology” would be harder to scare people with.
They call them "data centers" because “mass-surveillance centers” would be harder to sell.
