Glad I waited til today for my 5x1K workout. Sunny, chilly and no wind. Tough session along a quiet back road watched by cows! 12 metre elevation change so the 3 “uphill” efforts a bit slower than the downhill. Ave pace was 5:25/km which if I can maintain at Saturdays #parkrun will be a year’s best.

I’m not beating myself up this morning because I have cancelled my Sunday workout. It was going to be 5 x 1K intervals with 2 mins walking rest. There is an autumn gale blowing with heavy rain. Hopefully the weather will be fine tomorrow and I will do it then to prepare for next Saturday’s #parkrun

Beautiful sunny morning at Gorey #parkrun and I was time keeping. We had A bad incident today when a fast visiting runner elbowed a slower runner out of his way witnessed by two other participants. First time such a thing happened here and so very unnecessary. Reported to parkrun HQ

Having a week in County Clare on the west coast. Today the weather is appalling. Only run since last #parkrun was yesterday in drizzle and high winds. Makes for amazing coastal experiences though.

Amazingly the foul weather stopped 5 mins before the start of Gorey #parkrun. Only 99 took part and I finished 43rd. I did manage a new year’s best of 27:35 despite the strong wind. I think the extended speed work over the past 2 weeks helped me maintain a faster cruising speed today.

I’m here at Gorey #parkrun and the weather is atrocious. Feeling for the volunteers today. At least I can get dry immediately after my run.

It’s a very wet and windy #parkrunday at Gorey #parkrun today. Better get going, don’t want to miss the start!

Have been emphasising speed work in my training over the last 2 weeks in an effort to do an annual best at #parkrun soon. Last week I did 5x 800m at 5:24 per kilometre pace and today I did 4 x 1000m at the same pace all with a 2 min walking rest between each effort. Bring on Parkrunday!

Bed time feeding for the three domestic and the four semi feral cats. If the domestic cats don’t finish off their meals during the day the ferals sneak in and empty the plates. The bed time meal is the only one the ferals can’t get to as the doors into the house are locked

Gorey #parkrun results were late this weekend. I came 56th out of 137 and 1st in my age grade. I had my best result on age grade timings coming 6th overall. I enjoyed the rain as it was cooling and refreshing. I dropped a few seconds on lap 2 and that is how I failed to get a year’s best.

Did a very wet Gorey #parkrun yesterday. Set off with the goal of a sub 27 min. Kept the right pace for about 1k but dropped off. Hoped then to beat my years best of 27:48. Kept a good pace to the end but just failed by 6 seconds even with a good sprint over the last 0.1 mile. Always the next one!
