Happy Earth Day everyone! Personally I am reminded of this every day, but that's just because of what I do. For everybody else, let's all today think about, support and celebrate environmental protection. (photo from NASA, reproduced by space.com)

Just a quick share of a fundraising page from one of the Universities where I work, as part of their Christmas charity fundraiser. As someone who has had sepsis more than once, this is a charity well worth supporting: www.justgiving.com/page/univers... @ox.ac.uk

A row over fossil fuels has broken out at COP30 but this is also likely to be a negotiating tactic.

I'm sorry, but I really can't condone this. Although I completely agree with the principle and understand their motivation, I can't agree with the methods. This does NOT help our cause.

I'm in 2 minds about this. I think, on balance, I would say yes the summits do have a point - if only to keep public awareness and momentum high, even if politically they achieve very little.

Do UN climate talks have a point any more?
The US president is notably absent from these UN climate talks, as are other world leaders, all of which prompts questions about the purpose of COP today.

Again, I don't especially like blowing my own trumpet, but today is officially my first day as permanent Departmental Tutor at OUDCE, University of Oxford. It isn't very different to what I've been doing for the last 5 years as Associate Tutor, but still nice to be permanent!

Too bloody right & about bloody time! I would've gone much further, but I can see why the Govt didn't - because they're too afraid of losing votes to people who would rather go back to British Empire, stirred up by brood of vipers in Reform and Tories. #UKEUSummit
