As I poke at various #pathfinder2e analysis projects I thought I would share a chart I made because it might be interesting to some of y'all (and y'all might spot any mistakes I might have made).

The chart is from the inventor analysis I'm working on & it's essentially your bonus vs Standard DC...
I have to wonder how hard Paizo had to resist calling the Detect Technology cantrip "Detect Tech" and why they resisted.

Looking more at #starfinder2e Tech Core and if I had to summarize technomancer it would be "If you won't engage with the caster play pattern, we'll MAKE you."

Because like... ALL the subclasses are built on parts of caster play that forum goons refuse to engage with or they call bad on casters.

I am both glad that my favorite thing in Fallout games is now in #starfinder2e and sad it's a lv15 feat.

Gift Grenade lets you make a Thievery attempt to plant a held grenade on someone and then stride away before it blows (a crit success lowering their save result)

Looking at #starfinder2e Tech Core and SRO has an interesting feat called Weapon Mount that lets you have a simple one-handed weapon that's doesn't require your hands at all like a shoulder mounted thing.

If you are the Combatant SRO heritage it can be 1hdr martial or 2dr Simple

Looking through #starfinder2e Tech Core. Let's look at Augmentations that you can get with the Augmented Body general feat. Previously there weren't a lot of options there and starting with a cybernetic character is a big fantasy.

First up is Claws, which gives you d6 agile finesse claws. 👍

Looking at #starfinder2e Tech Core, especially the Mechanic.

Robot companions are stronger than Construct companions by a fair amount, even beyond the fact they can equip weapons if you install that modification.

If you are a GM I'd honestly allow an inventor to have a robot companion instead.

Just got my copy of #starfinder2e Tech Core so it's time for me to give some more thoughts on stuff in it.

Since I stated previously the Mechanic doesn't obsolete Inventor but Inventor + Mechanic archetype instead intrudes on it if anything let's talk about some things archetype doesn't give well.

Zamasu: Super Shenron! I wish for you to aeap my body with the saiyan Goku!

*becomes noodly bald guy*

Zamasu: Who the heck is this?!?

S.Sheron: Oh, you meant Kakarot who's going by Goku. Sorry you said saiyan so I looked at saiyan names.

Zamasu: There was another saiyan born with the name?

I would also like to point out the #pathfinder2e Alchemist is also a great combo with #starfinder2e Mechanic in both directions. Not only is alchemy still free items, bombs are weapons activated by doing a strike.

So you can use them on the Coordinated Fire feat to have tons of riders on it.

You know, with all the complaints about Marvel Wolverine's hand holding it seems to distract from the greater sin.

This Wolverine barely shares any continuity with the character or X-Men canon you know.

So you kinda don't even play Wolverine in the game.

One thing about all these #stsrfinder2e Tech Core previews are doing is making me itch because the goons that really want #pathfinder2e Alchemist and Inventor to be as bad as they think they are keep surfacing in comments nibbling at every crumb trying to find any excuse to take shots at them.

#starfinder2e Tech Core Preview on YT: Nanocyte honestly doesn't seem that impressive.

Envoy Nanocyte: "What was that? I couldn't hear you over my ally hasting me. Gimme a sec." (shoots with haste action then grants themselves and a couple nearby allies greater cover)

So looking at the #starfinder2e Mechanic archetype instead of Mechanic being an better Inventor than #pathfinder2e Inventor like some are claiming it's actually more like there's not actually a lot of reason to go Mechanic if you can just go Inventor + Mechanic archetype.

Archetype's loaded.

Science Officer: The Galfrx doom wyrm is a serpentine monster known to coil around starships trying to land on the planet. It's able to crack open weaker ships like deep sea hunts crack shells.

Captain: We should get out of here before the human tries to domesticate it.

Later....

Captain: HOW?!?

Every once in a while I see people debating how long it should take to drink a potion and how it shouldn't be fast like is often hombrewed in TTRPGs.

But I think this is usually due to a simple aesthetic dissonance.
The aesthetic of a potion to so many is a near-fist-sized fancy bottle...

Just poking fun.

For reference the mechanic thing is a screencap of a preview I don't have the book yet.

Also the mechanic does have several strengths the inventor doesn't I'm not saying it's worse.

#pathfinder2e Crafter: So you know these two items that we can't use and plan to sell? I can just, ya know, break them down right here and make a single new item in like 3-4 days tops. With this optional rule it's only a day per new item and would be way better than selling.

Reddit: Crafting bad.

I recently posted this chart but with a few goons saying the Mechanic is a better Inventor than Inventor I feel like I need to bring up the Inventor's Reverse Engineer feat that lets you add an affect that's GM discretion to gear you crit the check to take apart & reassemble.
