Low pressure aloft turns Tuesday a bit more unsettled, but a southward-moving cold front sets a noticeably more seasonable tone beginning Wednesday and heading into the weekend.

The week ahead gets off to a hot, humid, and unsettled start, but by the end of the week, temperatures will be more befitting of — if not a few clicks below — what we'd expect from late September.

An upper low stalling out over Florida combined with an approaching (then stalling) front will help turn things a little more unsettled this weekend.

Summer is far from finished with us yet. After a couple days with relatively drier air and slightly cooler temperatures, we're back to the 90s starting Friday with shower and thunderstorm chances returning over the weekend.

Another warm mid-September day lies ahead for Thursday as high pressure remains the dominant weather feature at the surface and aloft. We'll get off to another pleasant start with lows in the upper 60s warming to the upper 80s in the afternoon with dewpoints in the mid-to-upper 60s away from the coast, where dewpoints will settle in the 70-72° range. Dry air in the atmospheric column will make for mostly sunny skies, with just a few passing clouds expected.

Drier air courtesy of high pressure wedging southwestward across the area will characterize the rest of the work week, bringing slightly more comfortable dewpoints to the area and seasonable temperatures for mid-September.

A front coming through on Tuesday will knock temperatures back from the record levels of the past two days, bringing some breezy conditions and maybe some coastal flooding in the process.

We tied a record high Sunday, and should at least threaten if not break the daily record again on Monday. From there, slightly cooler high pressure builds in from the northeast, bringing a little whiff of more seasonable air for mid-September.
