My thoughts are with the families of those injured and killed last night during First Friday. Two teenagers were injured, and a third was killed. At this time, the police are still investigating what happened. It is clear that violence of any kind has no place in our community or in this state.

Sending ICE or federal agents to polling locations is illegal, plain and simple. After spending the last year and a half using ICE agents to create fear and chaos in Black and Brown communities, the Trump administration is threatening to send them to polling locations to intimidate eligible voters.

Trump has spent his entire second term using ICE to terrorize Latino and Hispanic communities, and now he's sending armed goons to make sure people don’t feel safe exercising their constitutional right to vote. That is not what democracy looks like.

May you and your family have a happy Rosh Hashanah and a sweet new year!

I joined Congressman Steven Horsford at his roundtable, where we discussed how we will protect our communities from ICE and Trump’s cruel policies. Now more than ever, we have to stand together.

Heat impacts look different depending on where you live, your income, your health, and whether you have a working air conditioner. As our summers get hotter, not having reliable AC is no longer an option, and for our elderly, it can be deadly.
Thousands live in Clark County without AC. For some, it’s a death sentence
Hundreds of people have died from extreme heat in Southern Nevada as some residents struggle to afford, repair or access air conditioning amid rising temperatures.

I met with the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 2502 yesterday to discuss their workplace safety concerns around extreme heat and physical attacks. Our USPS letter carriers provide a critical public service and deserve to be able to do their jobs without fearing for their safety.

Today, we commemorate the passage of the 19th Amendment, which granted women the right to vote. This wasn’t given to women; it was won by generations of women who refused to accept anything but equality.

The Trump Administration is working to roll back key protections that prevent new access roads into certain wilderness areas. We know that most wildfires begin in proximity to roads, not in inaccessible wilderness areas.

I am praying for the safety of Washoe County, especially those impacted by the Hawk Fire, which has already burned more than 13,000 acres and impacted over 14,000 homes. I also want to thank all of the first responders who are putting their lives on the line to keep people safe.

The way we build our communities can have a profound impact on climate change. Often, HOAs restrict homeowners to certain types of landscaping that are not always well-suited to the local climate, but they also present an opportunity to expand climate-resilient building and landscaping practices.

Snow eaters are prolonged periods of abnormal heat, like what we had last winter. This new research shows how this type of heat threatens our water supply. I will continue to fight for policies that will slow climate change and protect Nevadans.
