What we are doing to Iran will prove to be both evil and very stupid, because Trump and his regime are both evil and very stupid.
remember Authoritarians don’t want to lift the boots off our necks, they just want to be the ones wearing the boots

This shit keeps happening to the Left because we allow pro-authoritarian Stalinists, Maoists, and Tankies with bad foreign policy views into our spaces just because they tell us they also hate rich people.

The Hlai people are the indigenous people of the island of Hainan. their language is part of the Kra–Dai language family which includes Thai languages. Han Chinese did not begin settling Hainan in large numbers until the 12th century, where they’ve now become the majority.

Serbia’s President says the remains of genocidaire Mladic to arrive in the country today and that “tens of thousands” are expected to attend his funeral. There can be no illusions any longer about the nature of this regime, and its direct threat to Bosnia. www.nedeljnik.rs/vucic-preuze...

I have noticed the shift in Israeli society for a decade now. It’s very normal now for an Israeli to express genocidal expulsion fantasies towards the Palestinians.

www.haaretz.com/opinion/2026...
Otherwise Occupied • Israel isn't debating a Palestinian state. It's preparing for expulsion
Gadi Eisenkot's position on Palestinian statehood is beside the point. Across Gaza, the West Bank and Israel itself, the machinery for making Palestinian life impossible is already operating, laying t...

Opinion: The prime minister’s focus on whether he was awakened on October 7 obscures years of policy that strengthened Hamas, ignored repeated warnings and treated the group as deterred, helping creat...

After decades of fighting colonial erasure, the Siraya have become Taiwan’s 17th official Indigenous group, and the first from the lowland Pingpu communities to gain legal recognition.

The landmark designation grants long-overdue rights and protections.

Mainstream media isn’t talking about it, but bulldozers and construction crews have descended upon Texas’ Big Bend National Park as the Trump administration moves forward with its border barrier project. The project will permanently damage one of our nation’s greatest natural treasures.

The jaguar was once a common animal in the area that became the United States from California to Florida.

Native American artifacts depicting jaguars have been found in Missouri and Florida. And as late as 1826 a jaguar was spotted near Monterey, California.

The Native American murals in the Lower Pecos Canyonlands on the border between Texas and Mexico represent some of the most significant rockart in all of North America, with a more than 4,000 year old tradition that is still represented by Indigenous Peoples in the United States and Mexico today.

Bless the wee cotton socks of the Bolshevik writers who could, talking about the Caucasus, skip easily from "We must free them from Imperialism", to, "This isn't the anti-imperialism we expected, why hate us?, to, "Kill them all, or deport them, all we did was try to save the savages!"
Still wild reading Soviet justifications for Russian colonial expansion into Central Asia. This one is from a 1963 book by Soviet-Kyrgyz historian Begimaaly Jamgyrchinov.

After the communist revolution, the Chinese state actually ramped up its Han settler-colonial policies in Central Asia. When the CCP took control in 1949 the population of Xinjiang was 75% Uyghur, and 6% Han Chinese.

Around 1 million Taiwanese indigenous people live in Taiwan today where their Ancestors have lived since time immemorial.

In the 1600’s the Dutch colonial admin. encouraged Han Chinese settlement, and the Chinese settlers have since become the majority population on the island.

they are now asking for untold billions of dollars in order to fund their desperate attempts to return us to the pre-war status quo, which they will not be able to do

the absolute best case scenario here is that things are worse for everyone than if they'd never started this evil clusterfuck
As unpopular as the Iran war is, the coverage still doesn't do justice to the fact that they just could have not done any of this. There was literally no reason beyond general bloodthirstiness and incompetence.

The political project of Israel's government is the elimination of Palestinians from Gaza (and eventually between the river and sea). Their actions and words all point in that direction, and that has remained unchanged. Beyond the question of how you call it, we need to recognise it for what it is.
